New Zealand - World Champions!

The New Zealand secondary schools debating team has won the World Schools' Debating Championship in Athens, Greece. The team were undefeated throughout the eight preliminary rounds and continued their winning ways in the knock-out phase of the tournament, beating England by 6-1 in the final, proposing "That all illegal immigrants should receive amnesty." The win follows the team's second place at the 2008 World Championships held in Washington late last year. In particular, Auckland was represented by Ben Kornfeld (Kings College) who was ranked 2nd best speaker in the world at the 2008 tournament. Congratulations on a great achievement!
